I live in Canada so i don’t have AT&T but it’s on Rogers and Fido in Canada so i can unlock it from that network and put it on Bell network or something? Do I save money and can I get cheaper plans? I pretty much want unlimited text and internet browsing, and maybe 120 mins. ?BUT, what is unlocking the iphone?

unlocking the iphone is when you have bought the iphone in another country, for example not in canada. And you unlock it so you dont need to use AT&T.. so you unlock it. I am not too sure how but i know it is possible
unlocking can mean two things. one, it’ll work on any network, just pop in a sim card. OR it means jailbreaking, meaning you can load all sorts of illegalish apps on it. jailbreaking is dangerous, and i feel you’re talking about the first one.
unlocking an iphone is when you make it work on a phone network other that the network you are given when you bought the phone.
In england iphones are all on the network O2. if i was to unlock it i could use it on any phone network, Orange, Vodaphone, 3, etc.
What is unlocking ?
Mobile unlocking is a service which frees mobile phones from the networks they are locked to. This is done by entering a Manufacturer’s code into your mobile keypad Phone. The code then unlocks the network and this means your Phone phone will be compatible with any network and any sim card. For example, if your Phone mobile phone is locked to Orange network and you want to use Vodafone by unlocking your mobile you will be able to use your mobile on a Vodafone network.
