iPad features: Laptop or not?
April 3, 2010He’s my obsession . asked:
What is exactly an iPad? And is it really a laptop? If it is a laptop, would it work for a student?
What is a great laptop for a student that ranges from $400-800?
Thhanks in advance.

Never Ipad is just like an ipod But just has a bigger screen And guess what it has virus’s Its not even close to a computer if i were you you i would go for a netbook that is if i had an ipod touch
you can do a little googling and see what you need and want out of a computer but ipad is just not my thing
The iPad IS NOT A LAPTOP. It is not an alternative to a computer. It is a huge over sized iPod Touch and anyone who is a fan of the iPad will probably flame me for that. It has 0 functions you could use for school besides browsing the internet.
I’d recommend getting an HP laptop or a Dell (probably dell). The dell outlet (www.dell.com/outlet)
has some great deals on PC’s if you need a good starting point!
Don’t get anything running Vista. Minimum of 2GB of ram is okay but MOST pc’s have a new standard of 4GB of ram.
Don’t get a laptop that has less than 250GB of hard drive space.
And make sure it’s at least a Dual core (2.40+GHZ and up).
Edit:
Go for Windows 7
An iPad is, as some people say, “an enlarged iPod touch.”
It’s basically like that but with tons of more apps, and you can check your mail, surf the web, deal with photos, watch movies, iPod, iTunes, as well as iWork, etc.
It does have more features than an iPod touch, which disguises it more like a computer, but it’s not.
Saving files on the Ipad will be a lot like saving files to a folder on your desktop. iPad had flash memory, just like you can save files on your iPhone to flash, you’ll be able to do the same on the iPad for applications such as numbers, keynote and pages. iPad will also offer a USB adapter for saving to a USB drive.
I’m guessing your better off getting a normal PC for that price range. I would consider the lower end HP computers, or even some DELL models.
Hope I helped
It’s not capable of doing as much as a laptop; the iPad is a secondary device used for watching movies, reading books, etc. The key thing is that you use it to *consume* apps/services (ie. pay extra) and not *create*, where as laptop is versatile enough to do both adequately.
the ipad is not a lap top, all it really is is an oversized ipod touch with more memory, and if your looking for a good laptop i would recomend looking for an hp or a dell laptop.
The iPad is NOT a laptop. What it is a larger iPod Touch, with a nicer screen, and faster processor. How useful it will be to a student depends on how the app community shapes up. It could become a handy companion, but will never replace a laptops functions. As a student you don’t need a very powerful laptop unless you also want it to replace a desktop. HP has some good laptops and offer a discount for students (sometimes it’s equal to the employee discount). Register for the student discount here than brows laptops within your price range. Get one with a Core i5, since that’s the best processor for your price range.
It’s just a mini laptop..
It’s good.
But for a student I’ d suggest Dell laptop. It’s works for the students.
You’re welcome
